How do I care for my cloth pads?

I wash my bamboo fleece twice on hot for shrinkage and absorbency before I sew my cloth pads. This means they'll be well on their way to full absorbency when you get them. Just like with cloth nappies, the easiest way to prep your pads for use is to pop them in a bucket or a tub of cold water for a few hours and then do a quick cold wash. No detergent is necessary in a prep soak and wash. For ongoing care, always rinse in cold water so you're not setting stains. They can be washed on warm, but that initial cold water rinse is important. I generally give mine a rinse at changing and then put them an open wash basket or wet bag until I'm ready to wash. On heavy days, I'll put them in an ice cream container of water face down for about 5 minutes so the heavy fluids drain and sink in the cold water. Easier than rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and saves water. Then give them a squeeze out and pop them in a wet bag or airy wash basket until I'm ready to wash. Washing every second day is recommended. You can wash your cloth pads with any of your other washing if you prefer not to do a separate wash. Just be sure to have rinsed them first and don't overdose on the detergent. Any MCN safe detergent is fine. Avoid detergents with inbuilt softeners and optical brighteners, just as you would with nappies. Line dry in the sun whenever possible, but an occasional tumble in a dryer on the low setting is fine too. If you have any questions at all or would like to troubleshoot your wash routine, send me a pm on my Facebook business page or email me at fefifobum@gmail.com

Is envelope postage available?

If you are happy with envelope postage within Australia, which is untracked, type the word envelope in the discount code box at checkout and $8 will be deducted from your total, so you effectively pay $2 postage. This is available for up to 3 pads of the 8 inch or 9 inch size, 2 of the 10 inch pads and 1 of the large 11 or 12 inch pads.

Which way do I wear my sanitary pads and breast pads?

With the cloth sanitary pads, the pretty side with the decorative stitching goes up against the skin and the plain smooth microfleece side goes down in the knickers for a bit of grip. For breast pads, the pretty side with the decorative stitching goes to the outside in the bra and the plain smooth bamboo velour side goes against the nipple.

How do I care for my modern cloth nappy?

Modern Cloth Nappies (MCN) are very easy to use and care for. Gone are the days of scrubbing and soaking and bleaching to get nappies clean. In fact, doing any of these things will reduce the life span of your modern cloth nappy. You have chosen to invest in a quality handmade nappy and if you treat it with appropriate care, you'll be able to get maximum enjoyment from your investment.
